The foundation of a religion depends on its "revealed" text that may be referred to as "the book" and its founder. In the case of Christianity the book is the Bible which contains the revealed and inspired word of God. In Islam, the book is the Qur'an which is claimed to be the eternal and unaltered revelation of Allah to Muhammad. Such books are regularly subjected to critical analysis by scholars to assess their authenticity. The Qur'an today, is going through a similar process that Bible had gone through.
