What does the word "God" mean to you ? There can be many gods but Christians believe in the one God with whom they have a relationship with. You can't have a relationship with someone if you do not know his identity. In the first instant an identity is established by the personal name of the person and then narrowed down to his nature and attributes especially when these are peculiar and unique to that person. If you know all these of the person, then you will know exactly with whom you are relating with. Likewise, this applies to our relationship with our God of Bible.
We are blessed that our God wants to reveal himself to us through the Scripture. So it is important that we need to search the scripture and learn what our God says about himself. Unfortunately, His personal name is one of the most important God says about himself but we are seldom taught about this and it is not apparent in our modern day bible translations. In these versions, Yahweh is substituted by the title "LORD" ( all capital letters).
